Dr. Hong Jiang Image

Hong Jiang received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China; the M.A.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada; and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. He is currently Chair and Wendell H. Nedderman Endowed Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to joining UTA, he served as a Program Director at National Science Foundation (2013.1-2015.8) and he was at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was Willa Cather Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. He has graduated 19 Ph.D. students who upon their graduations either landed academic tenure-track positions in Ph.D.-granting US institutions or were employed by major US IT corporations.  He has also supervised 20 post-doctoral fellows and visiting scholars.

His present research interests include computer architecture, computer storage systems and parallel I/O, high-performance computing, big data computing, cloud computing, performance evaluation. He is a Topic and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Computers and recently served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems. He has over 350 publications in major journals and international Conferences in these areas, including IEEE-TPDS, IEEE-TC, Proceedings of IEEE, ACM-TACO, ACM-ToS, USENIX ATC, FAST, EUROSYS, ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, SOCC, LISA, SIGMETRICS, VLDB, ICDE, DAC, DATE, ICDCS, IPDPS, MIDDLEWARE, OOPLAS, ECOOP, SC, ICS, HPDC, INFOCOM, ICPP, etc., and his research has been supported by NSF and industry. Dr. Jiang is a Fellow of IEEE, and Member of ACM.


Professor Hao Che

Dr. Che received the B.S. degree from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China; the M.S. degree in physics from the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas, USA; and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas, USA. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas. Prior to joining UTA, he was a system architect with Santera Systems, Inc. in Plano (2000-2002) and an assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University (1998 to 2000). His current research interests include network architecture and Internet traffic control, datacenter resource management and job scheduling, edge computing and IoT. He is a senior member of IEEE.


Dr. Zhijun Wang

Dr. Wang received the Ph.D. degree in Computer System and Engoneering in 2005 from University of Texas at Arlington, TX, USA. He is an Associate Professor of Research  in ACES Lab now. His research interests include traffic control (QoS guaranteed congestion control, price-aware congestion control, incast congestion control) in datacenters, resource management ( SLO guaranteed job scheduling, integrated network and computing resource management) in cloud computing and edge computing.

Dr. Ning Li image

Ning Li

Ning Li is a PhD. Student in ACES Lab. His research has focused on universally-available-data-driven, QoS-aware resource & energy efficiency optimization for diverse server applications, including key-value stores, relational database systems, and cloud/datacenter applications. In addition, his research interests still include computer storage systems and parallel I/O, database systems, bigdata, serverless computing, especially for their QoS (Quality of Service) oriented SLO (Service Level Objectives) enforcement/guarantee, energy conservation and performance tuning/optimization.

Xuan Wang

Lin Sun

Lin Sun is a PhD student in ACES lab. He has a wide range of interests in cloud and edge computing area. His goal is to minimize the gap between human beings and the immense computing power on the world. Before he join the lab, he had worked for Meituan-Dianping, CMCC and several startup companies as an engineer.

Soudabeh Hedayati  joined ACSE Lab in 2024 as a PhD. Student. Her research interest is data  price modeling in edge and cloud computing.

Osama Abu Hamdan

Osama Abu Hamdan is a dedicated Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington, specializing in Software Defined Networks (SDNs) and Federated Learning applications.

Osama holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno(2023) and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Jordan (2020). He brings valuable industry experience, having worked as a Java Backend Software Engineer at Atypon Systems for three years and freelanced as a Python Software Engineer for five years.

Tasdiqul Islam

Tasdiqul Islam is a PhD. Student in ACES Lab. His research interest is on quantum network, focusing in routing of quantum information.
He pursued his bachelor degree in Computer science and engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Before joining as a PhD student, he worked in software industry for 3+ years in Bangladesh.

Dr. Zhijie Huang

Dr. Huang got his Ph.D from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2016, and is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the supervision of Prof. Hong Jiang. His research interests include coding theory and its application, storage systems and parallel IO, and reliability and security in computer systems.

Todd Rosenkrantz is a PhD. Student in ACSE Lab. He is interested in Edge Networking and IoT device utilization beyond the local device and network. He turned his hobby into his career after he left the Navy and the field of Nuclear Power Generation. He has worked at IBM, McAfee, and Dell. He enjoys making things work and learning new technologies. He has been an instructor, both as a volunteer and sometimes with his job duties. He appreciates ‘seeing the light come on’ as someone understands something new.
